OUR MISSION
The Association of Hungarian Country House Museums is an NGO formed in 2002. Each of the board members represents a certain region, a cross-border region or ethnic country houses.
Our purpose:
- Advocacy
Representation and coordination of the interests of entities operating country house museums in Hungary. Promoting the preservation, professional restoration, operation, maintenance and development of country house museums, providing professional support in creating new country house museums, and participating in scientific research on country houses and their collections.
- Dissemination of knowledge
Promoting good professional co-operation and the dissemination of necessary information, organizing further trainings, conferences, and professional forums.
- Register
Creation and regular maintenance of a database containing the characteristics of country house museums in Hungary, continuous publication of information about country house museums and their operation.
Tasks of high priority: Once a year, the Association organizes a national meeting.
Members of the Board organize regional meetings belonging to their region or of the ethnic group once a year.
The Association publishes an information booklet entitled “Country House Newsletter”. „Country House of the Year” and “Country House Leader of the Year” awards and the commemorative plaque named after Péter Szablyár are presented every year.
